PLEASE VOTE FOR JOSH AS YOUR BOROUGH CANDIDATE AND OLLIE AS YOUR COUNTY CANDIDATE.
JOSH OWENS - ST JOHN'S BOROUGH CANDIDATE
I have lived in Ipswich all of my life and in South East Ipswich throughout. I attended Ipswich Academy at Lindbergh Road, and Ravenswood Primary School.
My day job is a Software Engineer, attending the University of Suffolk, on a part-time basis. I understand the aspirations and NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE and want to help out and promote opportunities.
Championing and helping people with MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES is something I feel very passionate about and I am a co-founder of a GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN aimed at helping to end the stigma of mental health issues and to provide a SUPPORT NETWORK PLATFORM.
This area does have some problems, which as a local resident I completely understand and want to help resolve, if I am fortunate to be elected.
I live and breathe this community and want to genuinely help out on a wider scale and expand the work I currently do.
As an elected Councillor, I would be able to get stuck in and get the better deal which St. Johns deserves after many years of being taken for granted by Labour.
OLLIE RACKHAM - ST JOHN'S COUNTY CANDIDATE
I was born in Ipswich and lived there for 21 years; my family has been based in the town, for several generations. I studied History at the University of Bristol and Law, in London. I currently work in political research and policy formation.
I am running as the Conservative candidate for the St John’s division, in the forthcoming Suffolk County Council elections. As someone that has schooling, sporting, family, social and church-based links to the Division, I want to ensure that its people's wishes are heard and their interests well-represented.
I have decided to run for the Division as I firmly believe that Ipswich is in need of a cultural revival, one driven by the completion of a Waterfront that can be easily accessed, the restoration and touristification of our town’s historic architectural heritage, a strengthened university offering and high-quality residential redevelopment in a greener town centre. This will drive sustainable, long-term economic growth, jobs, investment, educational opportunity and affordable property.
I am passionate about education and want to support Copleston High School and Britannia Primary School in achieving Ofsted’s ‘Outstanding’ status. I also want to ensure that local pubs – like the Fat Cat and The Brickmakers Arms – are best helped in a post-covid world.
