Please vote for Angelina Klein in Holywells Ward and St Clement's Division
My name is Angelina Klein and I am standing as a candidate in Holywells Ward and St Clement’s Division. I am a published author studying English Literature and Language at the University of Suffolk, and I am currently working on a series of novels set in Suffolk and the surrounding area. I am a known face at the University for my roles as President of the Christian Union and Secretary of the Creative Writing Society, and I enjoy interacting with artistic events that the University hosts.
Since I live in Holywells and my family also live in Suffolk, I believe I have a good understanding of some of the problems that the area is presently facing. I have a deep-rooted desire to help people and make positive changes in our community.
As a disabled person, I understand the difficulties that those with mobility issues face when navigating the streets and dangerous pot-holes. Therefore, I want to ensure that St Clement’s Division and Holywells Ward is accessible for all. I will campaign for this. It is my promise to keep the best interests of the residents in my division and ward central to my time in office if I am elected. Ultimately, I would love to become a councillor so that I can listen to the issues and concerns that matter to residents of Holywells and St Clement’s. I hope to represent and practically address these concerns at council meetings with compassion, sensitivity, and care.
The three main issues I plan to tackle are: safety; accessibility; and creating more career opportunities for young people in Ipswich.
Through working with Suffolk Police and the Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner to implement plans that keep high-crime areas better monitored. I hope to campaign to have more CCTV installed to make our streets safer. I would also strive to continue to support knife-crime prevention education within schools, raising awareness to the severe impact of knife crime in society.
I hope to campaign to make Holywells and St Clement’s more accessible for those with mobility issues and disabilities. I would campaign for more seated bus shelters, and for clearer display boards that show updated bus times. I would also campaign for the upkeep of pavements and the upkeep of filling in potholes in a more timely manner. I recently ended up in A&E after falling on a loose paving stone. For people with disabilities and the elderly, I understand how these obstacles can be a navigational nightmare. This is something I plan to change for the better.
If elected, I would hope to work with local businesses and places of higher education within the Holywells and St Clement’s area to promote more career-opportunities or work experience placements for young people. I also hope to create agreements between places of education and local businesses that are accessible for students with mobility issues and which prioritise SEND students.
I have a great appreciation for areas of natural beauty and I care about them being maintained. I am deeply grateful for all the hard work that volunteers put in to upkeeping the green spaces across Holywells and St Clement’s, such as Holywells Park and Alexandra Park. It is my promise to work with and support the current maintenance schemes at these parks, should I be elected. I understand the importance of these green spaces for our wildlife in Ipswich, and the joy and peace that they bring to families locally.
I also plan to work with Ipswich Borough Council to clear up any litter in Neptune Marina. Recently, I noticed that the swans that swim up and down the riverfront were trying to eat plastic bags where a significant amount of rubbish had gathered in the water. This sight deeply saddened me, and has moved me to make the pledge that I will do everything I can to clear up waste in Neptune Marina if I am elected. Local wildlife should not be suffering due to debris in the river.
Ultimately, I am committed to representing the residents of Holywells and St Clement’s and campaigning on their behalf. I intend to tackle the real issues that residents face on a day-to- day basis and be a voice for the people, making areas across St Clement’s and Holywells safer, greener, and accessible for all.
