What will replace Colchester Road Fire Station?

Judy Terry, Ward Councillor for Rushmere, arranged for local residents to be briefed about the future of the Colchester Road Fire Station at a public meeting on Monday, 15th March.

The Fire Service will move to new premises on the eastern side of Ipwich, giving them better premises and quicker access to emergencies within a year.

The Colchester Road site will be marketed nationally within the next few weeks. Rumours abound that the site is to be purchased by a large supermarket chain, but the County Council has not entered into any negotiations with any organisation. The site cannot be redeveloped without Planning consent, and local people will be fully involved in that process.

Judy has promised to organise a further public meeting to discuss any proposals, and to continue to represent local people's views on the type of development they would like to see in this prominent residential area. She will also be seeking a development plan for the site, to involve local people.
