 | Ipswich Conservatives delighted by safety improvements at Foxhall Road Crossing |
 |
Local Conservative Councillors are delighted that the long awaited crossing improvements on Foxhall Road outside St Clement’s Hospital have been completed by the Conservative-led Borough Council.
Ipswich Borough Councillor and St John’s Division Suffolk County Council Candidate Gavin Maclure helped local residents in the neighbouring streets pull a petition together asking for the new safety measures at the crossing and presented it to the Council. The works were then given the go ahead late last year by the Council’s Executive.
The improvements also had the support of Councillor Tanya de Hoedt, St John’s Ward Councillor, along with Britannia Primary School and Copleston High School.
The new traffic calming speed humps are intended to slow motorists down to enable pedestrians, many of which are school children and parents, to cross Foxhall Road more safely.
Councillor Gavin Maclure said: “The traffic calming measures here should make crossing the busy Foxhall Road safer for all pedestrians, especially school children and the elderly. This is an excellent example of local people and the Council working together to improve our neighbourhoods.”
