“We will be visiting Ipswich Hospital to thank our nurses, support staff and doctors for the dedication and hard work they put in over the busy Christmas period. Faced with a serious outbreak of winter viruses just at the time when we all want to be with our families, the hard-working staff of Ipswich Hospital have continued to serve the people of the town and of Suffolk with their usual extraordinary sense of public service.”
Ben Gummer, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Ipswich, welcomed the Shadow Health Minister, Andrew Lansley MP, to Ipswich on Monday 5th January.
Ben and Andrew toured Ipswich Hospital to thank nurses, doctors and support staff for their hard work over the busy Christmas period.
Ben Gummer has been running a high profile campaign this Christmas in support of Ipswich Hospital, whose finances are under considerable strain.
Ben said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew to Ipswich. He knows the hospital well – especially since he supported my campaign against cuts to vital cancer services there – and so he is well aware of the dedication, professionalism and tremendous loyalty of all the staff at Heath Road.

“Just like the people who work there, I and so many Ipswich people are intensely proud of our local hospital, so it is fitting that the Shadow Health Minister will be there to thank these hard-working NHS professionals for their work during this exceptionally hectic Christmas period.”
